Dear Greens - Due to family and work responsibilities in the next
month or so, I will not be able to help coordinate two upcoming peace
events like I did last year. I hope people will step up and help
make these successes for the Green Party and progressives.
1) Second Annual Climb America's Mountain for Peace. This hike up
Pike's Peak on September 11 is a fundraiser for the Green Party of
Colorado and the Pikes Peak Justice and Peace Center. Last year, 10
of us from Colorado Springs, Denver, and Boulder participated. It
was inspirational and was a great time to boot. PPJPC sponsored a
spaghetti dinner the night before and participants were housed by
Colorado Springs activists.
2) Adopt-a-Silo Action, October 2. Here is part of an email
describing it:
"Time to start planning for the Second Annual Adopt-A-Silo! Mark
your calendars for October 2nd, 2004. We are starting early this
year so that we can get as many Coloradoans (and others) involved as
possible. It is Time to reinvigorate the national discussion of
nuclear weapons, their destructiveness, their cost, and their effect
on US foreign policy.
I have sent this email out to all those who participated in last
year's Adopt-A-Silo [BK Note - We had Silo O-3]. If you or you
organization are willing to Adopt-A-Silo ... We are asking that each
group bring as many people with them as possible - 40 to 50 people at
each silo would be great. We have a Big Goal this year for the
number of adopters and other participants.
...we will send you an organizing packet, so that you can get
people in your area or organization interested and excited to
participate." This event is co-sponsored by the Greeley Green Party.
For either of these, please email me at bklafehn@mindspring.com, and
I will give you further contact information.
Thanks!
