GREEN PARTY TO MEET AT SOLAR ENERGY INTERNATIONAL<br>
June 23-24 Annual State Meeting planned at Carbondale renewable energy
center<br>

The Green Party of Colorado invites all registered greens and
interested voters from across the state to Solar Energy International
in Carbondale, Colo., for the Annual State Meeting on Saturday and
Sunday, June 23 and 24. <br>
&nbsp;<br>
The Saturday meeting, scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., will focus
on strategies and policies for future Green Party events and
activities, as well as planning for 2007 and 2008 political campaigns
and elections. The agenda, available one week before the event, will
include discussion and various business items requiring votes by Green
chapter representatives.<br>
&nbsp;<br>
On Saturday evening, a community reception will offer new Greens and
non-Greens an opportunity to meet Green officials and activity chairs
to learn more about the party. The Western Slope Premier of the
six-minute, musical documentary, &#129;<i>Sound Waves for the Earth</i>,
will be followed by a short question and answer session about the
history, purpose and other information about the Greens.<br>

Sunday will feature a workshop on candidate vetting, election planning,
and campaign organizing. A panel of experienced campaign workers and
elected officials will offer insight on effective ideas and methods for
electing Greens.<br>
&nbsp;<br>
Solar Energy International is located at 76 S. 2nd St. in downtown
Carbondale, promoted as &#129;"the ultimate Rocky Mountain hideout".h The
organization trains decision makers, technicians and users of renewable
energy sources, and provides planning, engineering and implementation
of sustainable development projects. Accredited by the Institute for
Sustainable Power, SEI has trained more than 1,400 people since its
founding in 1991.<br>
&nbsp;<br>
The Green Party of Colorado is the state's fourth largest political
party, with close to 5,000 members and 10 active chapters. Elected
Greens in Colorado government planning to appear at the June events are
Carbondale Trustee Scott Chaplin, Fremont County Schools Boardmember
Charlie Green, and San Miguel County Commissioner Art Goodtimes. Other
elected Colorado Greens include Telluride Town Moderator Thom
Carnevale, Breckenridge Councilman Jeffrey Bergeron, Cortez City
Councilman Matt Keefauver, Dolores Town Boardmember Wendy Mimiaga, and
Ward Mayor Peter Gleichman.<br>
