To All Greens,

The minutes to the Adams-Jefferson County Green Party Chapter:

1.) Scott Zulauf gave a speech/presentation about the protection and preservation of open space in the Northwest Quadrant of Jefferson County from development and/or closing the freeway loop gap. This will be a major plank of his platform for Jefferson County Commissioner.

2.) Scott Zulauf and Tony D'Lallo will post an announcement on YourHub.com and the Denver Post stating that they were qualified at the Green Party State Nominating Convention and will appear on the 2008 ballot.

3.) Tony D'Lallo and Dave Chandler made tentative plans to attend the May 21st Army Environmental Impact Study meeting held at the Crown Plaza Colorado Springs, 2886 South Circle Drive, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. There will be a large contigency from the Not 1 More Acre or Pinon Canyon Expansion Opposition Coalition (PCEOC) present at this meeting. Greens are encouraged to attend to support the PCEOC.

4.) Calendar of Events-
a.) Voter Registration Drive on May 24th, 2008 at the Sunflower Market on 38th and Stewart Streets or Old Elitches from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
b.) Jefferson County Open Space Park Clean Up on May 31st (Place to be announced-probably Matthew Winters Park).
c.) Capitol Hill United Neighborhood (CHUN) People's Fair - June 7th and 8th, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to whenever. This event is huge for the Greens and as many Green Party members that can table or be present at this fair would be appreciated. Last year 35 people registered Green and over 100 people signed up to volunteer for political events and/or to be on our emailing list.

5.) Elections/Campaigns/Ballot Initiatives

Adams-Jefferson County Greens Chapter will be discussing where they stand on these issues at upcoming meetings- our next meeting is June 5th. The websites below are not necessarily the viewpoints of the Adams-Jefferson County Green Party Chapter.

a.) The "EGGmendment" group or Colorado for Equal Rights is sponsoring a ballot initiative for Colorado’s 2008 election. This proposed constitutional amendment will define a person in Colorado as a human being from the moment of fertilization, the moment when life begins. This amendment will establish a cornerstone for protecting human life in our society... and we all know this is the right thing to do. This campaign is not about the power of money... it is about the power of truth. We are giving Colorado voters an opportunity to vote their conscience and protect the most innocent and helpless ones among us. If life is protected from the very beginning, Colorado for Equal Rights believes that we can transform our nation from a culture of death into a culture of life. Therefore, we are taking the necessary action to allow Coloradoans to guarantee every person equal rights under our laws.

b.) Amendment 46- The Colorado Civil Rights Initiative (CoCRI) is a proposed constitutional amendment that states: The state shall not discriminate against or grant preferential treatment to any group or individual on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in the operation of public employment, public contracting, or public education. http://www.coloradocri.org/

c.) Initiative 112 or the Licenses of Doctors Who Engage in Malpractice Initiative would revoke the medical license—and prohibit issuing, renewing, reinstating, or reactivating a license—to anyone who has engaged in three or more incidents of medical malpractice.
The Colorado Trial Lawyers Association agreed to withdraw this measure on May 6, 2008—as well as the eight others it filed in response to a measure to limit attorney fees—when proponents of that measure (the Attorney Fees Initiative) agreed to also withdraw.[1]
This measure is a citizen-initiated state statute.

d.) Colorado Anti-Affirmative Action Legislation Amendment 46 This website may not represent the views of the Adams-Jefferson County Greens Chapter.
e.) The website below has all of the pending ballot initiatives: http://www.leg.state.co.us/lcs/initrefr/0708InitRefr.nsf/reviewcomment?openview&count=30
